EMBARASSED!!!!
I finally got the sweater done for my father in law, i gave it to him during their last visit. The body of the sweater fit great, but the arms were 8 inches too long!!! Talk about embarrassing. So the sweater was brought home and the arms have been taken off of the sweater and frogged to about half of the length they were and now need to redo the rest and the shaping minus 8 inches!

The pattern is from www.knitty.com it is called the Leo sweater, that is also my father in laws name so I thought it was appropriate. Will post again soon

knitting and sports
Last night we were given tickets to a Phoenix Coyote's hockey game, as a hockey fan I know how cold it is in the arena. I did not want to wear gloves but did want to have warm hands. My solution, taking my knitting to the arena. I had my own version of a stitch and pitch, During the time we were at the game which the Coyotes lost, I got the brim on a hat done. This is a great way to keep warm without gloves! My husband thought I may have been nutty but I was not shivering!!!! I have also done it an Angels ball game. I am finding that the smaller projects are easier to work with in a confined space. So if you want keep your hands busy at a sporting event I highly recommend that do so and soon!!!

The Sweater
Well i have finally found enough time to work on that sweater for my father-in-law, no it is not finished but i am almost done with the arms and will begin sewing it together after that, then all that is left is the collar. I am now looking forward to seeing the final product. I have not worked on much else since I want to get this done soon.
Tomorrow my son Cody is supposed to start a baseball game in a travel ball tournament, I am always very nervous when he is pitching. He is a good pitcher and I want him to do really well and know that he will.
It is very late here will write again soon.

waiting is long over but now the wait to return to work
Well i got the results to the tests the doctor had run, they showed that i had fibroid tumors in my uterus, several large tumors and this is what has caused all of my problems. Doctors reccommendation was to have a hysterectomy. Glad she recommended that, had the surgery on April 8th and now I must wait to return to work. Once the surgery date was set my Mom set up to come back out here to help me since my Husband works very early and was not able to get me to the hospital and also get our son off to school. Thank God for Moms. Mom stayed almost 3 weeks by this time i was moving around well enough for her to go home. At my first post surgery appointment the doctor had the results of the tests ran on everything after the surgery and the results scared me to say the least. My doctor did not believe that there was cancer going into the surgery but the the final test results proved her wrong-the tests showed that there was stage 2 cervical cancer. My doctor believes that there is no need to send me to any kind of chemo or radiation treatments because there was not a large area of the cancer and it was only in the cervix and had not metasticised to any other areas. Now I am just wanting for the all clear to return to work. The good thing about having this time off is that I am finally getting the sweater for my father in law near done. Yeah I want to get that done so bad and it is driving me nuts not getting that done!!! I will leave now on that note to work on that sweater some more before I go to bed tonight.

I hate waiting
I had a rough few weeks and am now waiting for results oF some tests my doctor is running and the waiting has been the roughest time for me. Luckly the wait is almost over.. I belong to a Yahoo Monthly dishcloth knit along and have finished all of the knit alongs for this year, that is 4 so far and have not yet taken pictures of my finished dishclothes, I need to do that soon though and post those for all to see, the moderators do a great job finding relevant patterns for the month or season and of course the mid months are always fun to learn new techniques. These dishclothes have been a great distraction from my problems and are a great comfort. I am still trying to complete the sweatrer for my father in law, I have finally finished the back and started on the front of the sweater, it should start moving quickly now with the first part done. I turned 46 earlier this month and my mom arranged for a great weekend with my sister Gail whose birthday was also that weekend she turned 40, her son Erik, my great nephew Wyatt and of course my Mom. We had a great weekend together for the first time in years, this was truely a great way to celebrate life. I have pictures I will post one of them. I am glad they came out here to sunny Arizona, the weather was perfect until they got ready to go home and because of bad weather in Missouri and Michigan their flights out of Phoenix was delayed an hour and half waiting for the bad weather in St. Louis to clear so they could safely fly into there and then on to Michigan. All in all we all had a great weekend and of course my sons Danny and Cody could not wait to see their Grandma, Aunt Gail and cousins Erik and Wyatt. I can't wait to see them all again soon!!! will post pics of the dishclothes soon and

my first post
Since this is my first post let me introduce myself, my name is Annette and I live in Arizona with my husband Ken, our son Cody and our dachshund Princess Emily. I have an older son Danny also who is on his own. I am going to be 46 in just over a month. Along with knitting and crocheting I am a huge Los Angeles Angels fan and love spring training here in Sunny Arizona because the Angels' spring home is about 20 miles from home and these games are cheaper than regular season games and so close to home. The players also take the time to sign autographs and talk to their fans, this is also a great time to see the up and coming players.
I am a self taught knitter and crocheter, both of which i started after my paternal Grandma passed in 1983. My Dad always thought his Mom had reached out from beyond and touched me with her vast knowledge of crocheting and sewing too, did I mention that I sew also!
Right now I am trying trying to finish a sweater for my Father in Law but I am having a hard time getting it done. It is a beautiful pattern i found at http://www.knitty.com/ it happens that the pattern name and his name are the same-Leo. I can do afghans in no time but this sweater is just taking forever to complete. I love the pattern but I am just letting it get the best of me. I took a few days off of workng on it and did 3 scarves for my pod mates at work and they all loved the scarves. Now I am back to working on the sweater and it just is not working up fast enough. Maybe it has something to do with the smaller needles the pattern calls for.
Looking forward to showing pics of my finished projects maybe I will get that sweater done and Dad will model it for me. I will post again soon.
